Mometasone - Nasonex |
Mometasone under the brand name Nasonex is moderately potent steroid
which is used to treat skin disorders especially in those patients
who are not responsive to the less potent corticosteroids.Mometasone
have proved to be better in comparative with other drugs taken for
the same purpose.
These tests are not based on clinical tests but as shown by the
vitro.The tests shows that mometasone possesses a binding affinity
for the glucocorticoid receptor which is present in the human
body.Mometasone is more effective than dexamethasone, triamcinolone
acetonide, budesonide and fluticasone varying from 2% to 12%.
The corticosteroid possesses some special mechanism which is present
in the mometasone.The working of this drug on asthma is not known.
The corticosteroids show various effects on the multiple cells like
the mast cells, macrophages, lymphocytes present in the human body.
In several cases it has been found that in moderate or severe
allergy due to rhinitis 200ug of mometasone is sufficient if taken
daily rather than placebo. Not only this, treatment of mometasone is
more effective than beclomethasone dipropionate taken twice in 24
hours and fluticasone if taken once in the same duration.
It is also better than the daily dose of oral loratadine.The action
and working of Mometasone lasts for around seven to eight hours in
the patients treating for the allergic rhinitis.
Thus it can be said that Mometasone is the drug with well resisted
intranasal corticosteroid which shows its effects for atleast seven
hours. The drug is able to show its best effects after taking it
regularly for a week.
